Ssangbongsa Temple
  • Two mountain peaks stand on either side of the temple, earning it the name Ssangbongsa Temple. The impressive Mahavira Hall with its three-story wooden pagoda structure catches the eye. Additionally, the National Treasure Stupa of Master Cheolgam and the Treasure Stele of Master Cheolgam are located here.

First Burial Ground of
Jeongam Jo Gwang-jo
  • This historic site marks the place where Jeongam Jo Gwang-jo, a renowned scholar who advocated for political reform during the mid-Joseon Dynasty, was exiled during the Third Literati Purge in the 14th year of King Jungjong's reign. His exile was tragically short-lived, as he was executed after only a month. In 1980, a monument commemorating Jeongam's life, a portrait, and the Chogajip where he spent his exile were restored.

Dinosaur Tracksite
  • In 1990, the first dinosaur tracksite in the inland region of Jeollanam-do was discovered in Hwasun. This site dates back to the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic era and contains footprints of both carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs.

Kim Satkat Hill of Literature
  • In the late Joseon period, the wandering poet Kim Satkat (real name Kim Byeong-yeon, 1807-1863) passed away in Guam Village, Dongbok-myeon. A quaint 'Hill of Literature' has been created on the hill in front of the village, featuring a selection of over 50 of Kim Satkat's satirical and humorous poems engraved on stone monuments.

Imdaejeong Garden
  • This site, designated as a National Scenic Site, was created by Sa-ae Min Ju-hyeon, who served as the vice minister of National Defense during the late Joseon Dynasty under King Cheoljong. After resigning from his official post, he returned to his hometown and established a traditional garden.

Hwansanjeong Pavilion
  • After the Qing invasion of Joseon in the mid-Joseon period, Ryu Ham built this pavilion. However, when the Seoseongje Reservoir was completed in 1967, the surrounding area was submerged, leaving only the pavilion. It now presents a picturesque scene, resembling a landscape painting, as if it is floating on the lake.
